The Rings of Navarre

In the land of Navarre at the turn of the first millennium,

Kalos, the last of the Great Wizards, created 32 rings of power – four rings for each of the eight powers the Wizards had learned to harness.  Kalos had intended to distribute the rings to people who would use the power of the rings to do good in the world, but he died before he was able to do so.

In a secret manuscript, Kalos had explained that the power of each set of rings would only be revealed when the four rings were used together.  Acting alone, a ring bearer wielded no power.  But if a ring bearer joined three other people with the same ring, they would be a powerful team.

Since Kalos’ plan and ingenuity was unknown to those who found the rings, they did not realize the rings’ true value, and over the next thousand years the rings were dispersed, lost, or forgotten...
